A spec sheet is both the technical document and the legal reference for every OEM towel order. In 2024, Vietnam's textile and garment exports reached roughly USD 44 billion (per industry figures published in late 2024), with the US, Japan and South Korea as core markets — markets where buyers all demand a detailed specification package before issuing a PO. A standard spec sheet helps both sides avoid disputes over size, weight and color at inspection, while shortening the sample approval process by 2 to 4 weeks. Below are the mandatory fields ANODA recommends for B2B buyers.
The two most commonly missed fields are post-wash dimensions and nominal GSM. Cotton terry towels typically shrink 3-5% after the first wash, so the spec sheet must state dimensions after washing — not the greige dimensions on the loom. Common sizes: face towel 34×80cm, hand towel 40×60cm, bath towel 70×140cm. Nominal GSM ranges from 300-400 for the retail segment to 450-600 for 4-5 star hotels, with the customary tolerance of ±5%. GSM must always be paired with per-piece weight in grams — for example, a 70×140cm bath towel at 500 GSM weighs a nominal ~490g.
The technical block must state yarn type (ring-spun, combed, zero-twist or OE), yarn count (Ne 20/2, 21/2, 32/2 are common for terry pile), the pile-to-ground ratio, and weave type: plain terry, dobby border or logo-woven jacquard. Parameters such as 3-6mm pile loop height, weft density and edge finish (double-needle hem) directly determine absorbency and durability under industrial laundering. Specifying everything clearly upfront lets the factory set up the weaving process accurately and avoids costly sample reworks.

Colors must be referenced by Pantone TPX/TCX codes rather than subjective descriptions like 'navy blue' or 'ivory white', along with the dyeing method: piece-dyed for solid colors, yarn-dyed for striped borders or multi-color designs. Colorfastness requirements should be stated as numbers: washing to ISO 105-C06 at grade 4 or above, rubbing to ISO 105-X12 at grade 4, and light fastness per each market's requirements. For orders bound for Japan and Korea, buyers typically also request formaldehyde testing under the importing country's household textile safety regulations.
The packing field defines: folding style, whether hangtags or paper bands are used, individual OPP/PE polybag wrapping or paired packing, pieces per carton (typically 50-100 for bath towels), 5-ply carton specifications with dimensions and gross weight, and pallets per container. Moisture content inside the packaging must be ≤8.5% to prevent mold during 30-40 days at sea. Made in Vietnam labels, EAN-13 barcodes and the buyer's part numbers must be printed accurately — a single small error is enough to get a shipment held at customs or the receiving warehouse.
